Ville Valo of HIM collects some pretty neat stuff. The inspiration for this album came from a nun statute Ville recently acquired. He sent Varnish a demo of an image doubling the eyes and lips. After some experimenting, it was decided the cover needed to be silkscreened with Pop Art panache. Mike and Bob at Two Rabbits Studios were nice enough to let us come play on their equipment and create an edition of prints for the cover. The fluorescent color palette was quite a departure from previous HIM albums. Pushing along this new direction, Varnish employed minimalistic design using only wave forms from the songs and typography elsewhere in the package. Sealing the deal on the sparkly clean design – white vinyl for the LP version – so delicious.
